He doesn't see anything wrong with giving the kids a few sips here and there and I hate it! So I've been looking for a solution to our problem. One where he can drink soda (this is only occasionally, a few times a week) and the kids are enjoying a bubbly drink.
That solution came in the form of our new SodaStream.
My husband loves it, my kids love it, and I have actually started to love it as well. Here's why - my husband can drink his soda (cane sugar based) and my kids get sparkling juice. I just make a bottle for each of them and keep it in the fridge. When my husband has his glass of soda when he gets home, the kids can each get a cup of fizzy apple juice. I even get to occasionally enjoy a diet soda or sparkling flavored water too when they let me use a bottle.
I first saw the SodaStream in action when we were walking the aisles of our local Costco. As soon as I saw it I turned to my husband and said, "We have to get this!"
It's pretty simple to do. It takes me not even 5 minutes to go from the picture on the left to the picture on the right.
I'll give you one word of advice when using your SodaStream. Do not, and I repeat, do not forget to screw the bottle onto the device!!
Results will include water everywhere! I may or may not have done this... twice.
So once you get the bottle screwed on you simply push the button until you hear the "bzzz" sound. You repeat however many times time flavor your using tells you to. Most are 3 buzzes but for cola and diet cola it's a bit more. I guess they require more fizz.
Once you have added the carbonation to the water you carefully unscrew the bottle and add your flavor of choice. We chose diet cola for this one but I also made a bottle of cola for my husband. He absolutely loves that we received the natural cola similar to his favorite Hansen's soda because it's made with real cane sugar. No high fructose corn syrup!
For the kids I simply fill the bottle up half way, press the button once for fizz, and fill the rest of the bottle up with whatever juice is on hand.
I can also make sparkling flavored water with their MyWater flavor essences. Makes getting in that 80oz of water a day a bit more fun.
And once you're done making your soda you can either chill it in the fridge or enjoy it right away over a glass of ice. Simple, easy, and fun to do at parties! I cannot wait to entertain more with my SodaStream.
So if you're spending tons of money on bottles and cans of soda (and you aren't a brand loyalist who swears that everything else tastes bad) then I highly suggest you check out SodaStream's line of home soda makers.
Not only are there endless flavors and options, but they're coming out with even more flavors all the time! And you can purchase flavors and exchange your carbonator bottles at many different locations. Just go to the Where To Buy tab on the SodaStream website and plug in your zip code.
My Bed Bath and Beyond can exchange carbonators AND allows you to use their 20% off coupon!
