Breakfast Made Easy with #ChobaniChampions

When I wake up in the morning there are two things (sometimes three) that I fix myself for breakfast regularly; I make scrambled eggs w/ veggies and cheese and I throw together yogurt with fruit and granola. Depending on the day of the week and how busy we are in the morning I make my choice.

So far, my kids haven't really been fans of yogurt except for the Trader Joe's Squishers. And I haven't been a fan of what is IN the yogurt geared for kids. So when I saw these babies on the shelves at my local Target I knew we had to try them.

Yogurt is not only great for our kids, its simple and easy to whip out and serve before they can start complaining that breakfast isn't ready. And because they're 3.5 ounces instead of the normal 6 ounce adult size, my kids can finish a whole cup without wasting any!

My daughter absolutely LOVED her cup of Orange Vanilla.  My son may or may not have licked his cup when he was done.

Chobani Champions comes in 4 flavor combos perfect for the whole family:
  • Orange Vanilla
  • Vanilla Chocolate Chunk
  • Very Berry
  • Honey Nana

You cannot go wrong with any of the flavors! My husband loves the orange vanilla while I go more for the vanilla chocolate chunk. My son makes a bee line for the very berry and my daughter enjoys every flavor equally (but especially loves the honey nana!).

While these yogurts are geared towards kids and are not non-fat, my husband and I have enjoyed them as well! I've even put the vanilla chocolate chunk in the freezer for a little frozen treat after the kids go down for the night.

Since I'm trying to make an effort to live a healthy life, I love finding products that help my kids do this as well! Giving them yogurt as a part of their daily breakfast or offering it as a snack after nap time jut brings healthy items into our routine. And when my kid goes to the fridge and bypasses the snack drawer all together to grab a Chobani Champions, I'm a happy mama!

Kid-tested and approved!

Week 3 Weigh In: Chuggin' Along #simmwlc

This week was a bit wonky. Not only am I posting late, I had to weigh in a day early because we headed up to Disneyland on Thursday night. So while I'm down I think I'll be happily surprised next Friday when I weigh in.

Or at least that's what I'm telling myself.

The results?

Hey... that's almost 1/2 a pound! I'll take it.

I got a little more active this week. I've held steady at 10,000 steps a day and have been keeping track with my FitBit. I seriously LOVE this thing! So easy to use and it automatically uploads all of my data when I set it on the dock at night to charge.I know exactly how much more active I need to be at night and if I need to take another walk to up my numbers.

I've also been quite good about eating good. I have a routine and I think I like it!

Protein for breakfast (eggs with veggies & cheese)
Shakeology for lunch
Lean meat, veggies, and 1/2 cup of grains for dinner

I've been snacking on the same things too... honey wheat pretzels with hummus, baby carrots, apples, bananas, and Chobani yogurt (yum!). Every once in a while I'll indulge in a few bites of something bad but I don't think I've overdone it.

And if I continue on this path I know I'll see the results I want! I may be a bit behind in where I want to be but I'm going in the right direction. So close to the end of this first month!

What I need to work on:
  • Tracking on WW regularly - I'm paying for it... I need to use it!
  • Keeping a great, healthy sweet treat around so I'm not tempted with bad stuff
  • Getting to the gym! Again, paying for it and I need to use it

A Few of my Favorite Things

One of the best parts about running a playgroup is that the women I meet become more than just "other moms" they be come friends as well. And sometimes these friends come up with awesome ideas. Recently an idea was posted on our meetup page about having a My Favorite Things party. I wasn't quite sold on it until I found out what it was.

Don't know what a My Favorite Things party is? Well channel your inner Oprah and read on!

My guests' favorite things

A My Favorite Things party is a night in (or out) where each guest shares their favorite item under a certain dollar amount with their friends. For our party we chose a dollar limit of $6 per item. Each guest brings 5 of the same item under that $6 limit to share and gift to the others at the party.

When you get to the party, write your name on 5 pieces of paper. Each guest will choose 5 different people to give their favorite thing to (make sure to do this in advance to avoid duplicates or drawing your own name). Once the names are drawn, go around the room and explain why the item is your favorite and then announce who the lucky girls are to receive your item The party can be general, like our first one was, or themed!

My favorite thing - Earth Mama Angel Baby!

We each brought one of our favorite dishes to share and our favorite bottle of wine so that before we jumped into the fun of exchanging our favorite things we were able to eat and mingle together. Since each dish was a favorite I made little signs to go along with them. The party can also be hosted at a restaurant or other location outside of the home but since we all didn't have childcare this was the best option for us. Dads watched the kids outside while the moms enjoyed some time to chat and talk.

Once everyone had a bite to eat we got to sharing! And boy was this part fun.

When the kids heard that presents were involved they quickly came in to help pass out the favorites. Once they realized what was inside the presents, they weren't too excited about helping. Ignore my son, spiderman... he just got home from a birthday party.

Here's the favorites from our party:
  • My Favorite - Earth Mama Angel Baby Happy Mama Hand to Toe Wash
  • Elizabeth's Favorite - Krispy Kreme gift cards
  • Clarissa's Favorite - Muir Glen Organic marinara sauce
  • Jen's Favorite - Tresemme dry shampoo
  • Kari's Favorite - Lush Bubble Bar in Dorothy
  • Sophia's Favorite - Yellowtail wine
  • Nikki's Favorite - Bath & Body Works CO Bigelow Mentha Lip Tint

In addition to these awesome favorites, Chobani was kind enough to send each of my guests Family 4 Pack tickets to Kidsfest AND 2 free product coupons.  Boy were these mamas excited about yogurt!

I also included my Lipton Tea & Honey Klout perk samples and some Hot Dog on a Stick temporary tattoos for the kiddos that I received in a prize package I won at the SD Mom's Night Out Tweetup. What fun is it to keep all these fun goodies to myself, right? Gotta spread the love!

Each mama went home with five new and fun items. I was so excited to see what each person brought and was surprised to find how diverse each of our items were. We're already planning our next My Favorite Things party and this time we're going with a theme: Baby/Kid's Favorite Thing!

I gave a little bonus to my guests courtesy of Earth Mama Angel Baby and shared my Baby/Kid item, Angel Baby Bottom Balm. I've blogged about it before and can't say enough about how awesome it really is. And EMAB was kind enough to also send samples of their awesome Monthly Comfort and Milkmaid teas (both of which I needed!). So stay tuned for our next party and what new favorites we come up with!

What would you bring to the My Favorite Things party?
