Making Changes: Loosing Weight

Ever have a moment in your life when you look at a picture of yourself and say "Who's that??!!" Well I had that moment when looking back at pictures from Thanksgiving 2009 (see above). As soon as I saw how large I looked on camera I knew I needed to do something about it.

I'd been very lax about loosing weight after having E. I was worried that loosing weight too fast might hinder my milk production and I did not want to do that. Once I saw that picture I started to realize that if I lost the weight in a healthy way it wouldn't affect my supply. And I was only 3 months away from nursing for a full year so if my supply did drop a little it wouldn't be the end of the world.

So finally in January 2010 I jumped on the weight loss bandwagon and joined WW online. Now I had previously been on WW before having E and lost 23 pounds before getting pregnant. My last weigh in at Weight Watchers was on June 22nd and I weighed in at 204.4 pounds. I was very successful with going to meetings and sticking with the plan.

My highest weight was definitely at my 39 week appointment when I weighed in at 243 (2 days before having E). I joined Weight Watchers again when E was 6 weeks old and weighed in at 221. I did it for a few weeks and got down to 214 but just couldn't stick with it. Having a newborn was stressful enough :) So I dropped my membership and tried to stay healthy on my own. Well... I didn't gain any weight. I stayed at 214 until I began Weight Watchers again.

Now I'm happy to say that I've lost 10lbs!! I am currently at 203.8. Yeah... I am finally past the 204 mark that I left Weight Watchers at!! Now some reading might thing Oh.My.Gosh! I've never weighed that much and can't believe she just wrote her actual weight when it's that high. Well... I'm really not ashamed of my weight anymore. I had a baby. Yeah, it's been a year since I had E but I'm still breastfeeding and nourishing him. No, that's not an excuse. I'm working on the weight. And seeing results!

My goal is to get to 165. This is a very attainable goal and I think that this will be healthy for my height and body type. I hope that my dear readers (all 2 of you!) are ok with me throwing in pictures of myself and my weight loss with the pictures of little E this next year.

And below is the first picture I am proud to put up here as of late. It's from E's 1 year photo shoot with Tessa of Grin and Share It Photography. I LOVE how I look in this picture and definitely think you can see the difference 10 pounds can make (My jeans here are a size 14 and they're getting a little baggy!!). Hopefully this proves as inspiration for some. Weight loss is supposed to be a slow journey. And I am going to stick with it!!

Danielle,
YOU are a beautiful person and a GREAT Mother & Wife & DIL. We (all two of us) love and appreciate you at any weight. However, if you can feel good about yourself and like your look at a lower weight, then go for it. YOU have been very successful on many fronts this past year and your weight loss is one of them! CONGRATULATIONS!!! I noticed yesterday in your size smaller jeans & top!

Danielle! You are beautiful! I love those one-year photos -- and I can definitely see a difference from the Thanksgiving picture.

I think it is great you're so open. I am working on exercising more so I don't feel so tired by the end of the day -- I've only been doing it for a few weeks, but it feels great!

We're all different shapes and sizes but it is good to be able to embrace ourselves.

You look terrific...and I bet you feel great too! You're right, weight loss is supposed to be a slow journey. I know you will reach your goal. For the record, I think you look beautiful in both pictures. You may have a different jean size but you simply look happy. To me, that is when we are the most beautiful.
