Scotch Brite Botanical Disinfecting Wipes {Back-To-School Gift Basket Giveaway}

As I've mentioned before, I don't like bringing harsh chemicals into our home. Ever since having children I've been more conscious about what products we use and the impact those products have on our lives and our environment. I stopped using disinfecting wipes altogether and started using a spray bottle solution of vinegar, tea tree oil and  water to clean the surfaces around my home. But honestly... it sometimes gets a little tiring trying to find a clean rag and one of the bottles when it came time to do a once over on the counters or surfaces. So I started looking for an alternative to my vinegar solution.

While at Blogher'11 I was able to meet with and talk to the wonderful ladies at the 3M booth. I also was able to join them at their Goin' Coconuts party where we got to chat even more. I came to realize that a few of their new products were eco-friendly and that we were already using their awesome Scotch-Brite greener clean sponges. The one item I brought home from Blogher that my husband actually got excited about were these sponges. (He started buying them after finding out that they can be cleaned in the dishwasher and reused; plus they're a great alternative to using paper towels to clean up). After the conference I was contacted and asked if I would try out a new eco-friendly disinfecting wipe. I jumped at the opportunity. I thought it would be the perfect product for our home and would still put me at ease about bringing a disinfecting wipe into the home.

Now you may be thinking what's the big deal with disinfecting wipes? Why all the fuss over such a small thing? Well most disinfecting wipes have such harsh ingredients that the labels state that you must rinse surfaces that come in contact with food. And if I'm lazy too busy to grab my rag and vinegar solution, don't you think having to wipe down the counters a second time with water would defeat the purpose of a disinfecting wipe's ease of use? The Scotch-Brite Botanical Disinfecting Wipes offer a perfect no-rinse solution for any home.

Here's why:
  • Kills 99.9% of germs.*
  • Kills cold & flu viruses*
  • Leaves no residue
  • No rinse required
  • Made from botanically pure plant extracts
  • Clean easy, breathe easy
  • Available in two fresh scents! Breeze, and Lemongrass
I now have a disinfectant wipe that I feel comfortable using in my home and around my children.  This product has made cleaning a bit faster and easier for me and it does a pretty good job of cleaning up spills, food particles and other kitchen messes. I've also used it in the bathrooms for a quick clean up as well. And another awesome thing about this product? There's a coupon available right now for you to print off and use.

We've ramped up our recycling efforts over the past few months. I have a huge pile of cardboard boxes to cut down right now! I'm trying to convince DH to get rid of papertowels but haven't been able to yet...I'll keep on trying!

We are going green by remembering to turn off lights when we're not using them. I'm trying to teach the kids to do this as well. We also use reusable water bottles. Hopefully, next year we will get a share in our local CSA.

I've stopped using a lot of chemical cleaners around the house, replacing them with natural things like vinegar, baking soda, lemon juice and tea tree oil. Not only is it better for the environment, it's a lot cheaper!
