One is just around the corner...

E's first birthday is JUST around the corner! 1 month and 1 week away! I am finally in planning mode and have just ordered the invites, a few party favors from Oriental Trading Co, and got some cake decorating stuff from Wilton. We're going with a jungle theme since E loves all things animal and will probably have some fun music to play too to celebrate how much E loves to groove :)

I'm hoping to make the cake myself and a wonderful friend of mine and owner of Le Petit Cupcake here in SD has offered to make the cupcakes to accompany the cake as a birthday present to E. I'm also going to attempt to make a giant cupcake for E's smash cake. I got this pan for Christmas and was so stoked when I got it! I also got this beater blade for the Kitchenaid mixer and will be able to test it out soon. Have I mentioned how much I love cooking gadgets??

We're doing a simple party favor for the kids. We are getting jungle theme rubber duckies, a Richard Scary book and some animal crackers in a box. Who wouldn't like that?

I can't wait to see how E reacts to lots of people in the house all centered around him. I'm sure he's going to have a blast.

In getting the house ready for people we're doing a few things to insure everyone's safety and are installing a fence around the front yard. This is something we've wanted to do since pregnant with E and now have the perfect excuse to get started. This is a wonderful thing because we can actually take advantage of our large front yard. And when E starts walking we won't have to worry about him going into the street when our backs are turned.

I hope to post some pictures of the progression of the fence and our trials for the cake and giant cupcake soon! I'm going to practice twice before the big day... once for my brother Anthony's 21st birthday and again for a Valentine's day party with E's playgroup. Wish me luck!
