It's Easy Going Green with Willow Pads

I've already confessed to going green for "that time of the month" with my Lunette post but I didn't get a chance to rave about my latest love, Willow Pads!

While I get the hang of my Lunette cup, I've been using my Willow Pads from the Willow Store as a sort of back up system so that I don't have to worry about anything while out and about with the kids.

I was cursed lucky enough to have a little visit during my camping trip in Yosemite last week and thankfully had my Willow Store Willow Pads Mini Kit with me just in case. They totally saved the day.

The Willow Store Mini Kit comes with the following:
  • 3 regular pads
  • 3 hemp liners
  • 1 anywhere bag
  • 1 reusable gift bag

Just about everything you need to try out cloth without investing completely. That means you can see if it works for you and add on if needed. Since I've been primarily using the Lunette cup, this size kit was perfect for me. It gives me the assurance I need to have a back up plan and is the perfect size and price for my budget!

Organic and Adjustable
WillowPads are easy to use and adjustable! You can use the regular organic feminine pad as a panty liner or a maxi pad by simply adding additional inserts to create maximum absorbency.

Each WillowPad comes with one organic cotton shell and one hemp insert. They are very absorbent and allow air flow to reduce irritation and eliminate odor. They are designed to stay soft for years to come!

The best part is, no more shelling out money month after month for more pads! Simply throw the used pads in the wash with your towels or other clothes and wash as you normally would. If you already cloth diaper, you know how easy it is to add in a few extra pieces into the wash.

Pretty and Functional
WillowPads are made from the highest quality organic fabric tailored for softness and comfort. They are as slim as disposables and offer you superior protection while maximizing absorbency. And the best part is that because they're so slim, they're easy to keep in your purse and diaper bag!

Not interested in the neutral colors? There's options! You can choose from the gorgeous hand dyed organic feminine pads in colors ranging from hot mama to sunset. Just as addicting as adding cloth diapers to your stash!

There are also leak-proof willow pads in an assortment of colors to choose from as well. Leak-Proof WillowPads are the perfect solution for women that need the extra protection of a waterproof barrier, but still want the comfort and softness of reusable WillowPads. There’s no need for extra inserts, Leak-Proof WillowPads have everything contained in one, so changes are fast and simple.

If the regular 9" length doesn't work for you, both the organic and leak proof feminine pads come in 11" long lengths as well.

Included in the mini kit are also 3 hemp liners. These are perfect for light days and days where you might be using a menstrual cup and need a little bit of reassurance. They are super small size and very discrete. Easy to store with your cup for added protection.

And don't forget about the Anywhere Bag! It's the perfect storage for your feminine products and you can choose from hemp or fun cotton colors. I would love to see a larger wet bag for mama cloth storage on the go but these bags work for small storage needs.

Fluffy Goodness and More at Mama's Emporium {Rump-a-rooz Cloth Diapers}

When I make purchases I try to stay aware of local businesses. While it isn't essential that every purchase I make be local, I love to try and give back to the community. Especially when local means a WAHM.

WAHM = Work at Home Mom... like me!

And while the most recent WAHM I've been working with isn't in So Cal, she has a fabulous online presence with a great selection of products made in the USA. You might remember my post about my daughter's new fabulous nail polish?

Well, Mama's Emporium sells more than just nail polish as I mentioned before. They also sell fabulous fluff. And the fluff below is made in the USA!

I received this gorgeous Rump-a-rooz diaper in the mail a few weeks ago and boy have we had fun testing it out! Not only is this pattern to die for, the diaper also works very well.

Absorbency and Options
What I loved about the diaper as soon as I opened it was the fact that there were many different options for stuffing the diaper. And I was lucky enough to receive not only a microfiber insert, but a hemp insert as well. And we all know how I love hemp!

As I said, Rump-a-rooz gives you options when it comes to inserts:

  • Rumparooz MicroFiber 6r Soaker Set-
  • Rumparooz Bamboo 6r Soaker Set
  • Rumparooz Hemp 6r Soaker Set

Each insert comes with 5 layers! 3 layers are Newborn/Booster and 2 layers are contoured. That means a LOT of added protection in these inserts. And added protection means no leaking!

What I love about the hemp inserts is that because they're so absorbent, I can use this Rump-a-rooz as a nighttime diaper for my daughter. Since she isn't a heavy wetter like my son, this diaper is more than enough for her night time needs.

Contoured and Snug Fit
Another fabulous feature of this diaper is the fact that it's double gusseted in the legs. That means that I don't have to worry about leaks of any kind. There's even an extra gusset at the back of the diaper as well in case anything moves upwards while my daughter is sitting (if you know what I mean).

The Rump-a-rooz one size pocket diaper is also meant to be used throughout each stage in your child's life. From newborn to toddler, this diaper can be snapped down or up to fit perfectly every time.

Since my daughter is petite, I have been using aplix closures on her diapers but recently she started to take her diapers off due to the ease of lifting the aplix tab. So I've had to turn to snap closures instead and that can sometimes be difficult to allow a tight fit for her little waist.

But with the options I have to snap this Rump-a-rooz in place, I have no problem creating the perfect, snug fit every time we put this diaper on her. Its as if this diaper was made to fit her body.

Stylish and Classy
My daughter's gorgeous Lux print is just one of the many options of patterns and colors that Rump-a-rooz is available in. I had such a hard time picking out a pattern that would be perfect for my girl but as soon as I saw this pretty pink diaper, I was in love. And so was my daughter!

As soon as I put the diaper on her, she grabbed her pearls and her nail polish and headed outside so I could take a few photos. Of course we only got a few of her actually looking at me. The rest of the time she was playing with her car and water table. And she sure looked fabulous!

Rump-a-rooz also includes solid prints as well such as Rootbeer brown, Amethyst purple, Tulip pink, Crimson red, and many more. For a full page of all of the patterns and colors available check out Mama's Emporium's website.

Interested in cloth diapering but aren't quite sure where to start?

Rump-a-rooz would be a great diaper to have on hand for an easy transition to cloth diapering. We love this diaper for night time use and as an emergency diaper in the diaper bag since it's simple and easy to use while out and about.

How to Be Prepared about our Period {Lunette Menstrual Cup}

Since having my children I've been on a path to making the changes in our home to create a greener environment. We've switched to green cleaners, we recycle, we are conscious of our purchases, we cloth diaper, etc.

But the one thing I hadn't thought of was my "time of the month" when I considered the changes needed to create a green home.

Luckily with the help of a few friends and Be Prepared Period, I've found the tools I need to create a green period (as weird as that may sound). I've chosen a system that works for me and is completely bullet proof. That means I don't have to freak out when I walk out of the house in khaki shorts no matter what time of the month it is.

I first started by choosing a reusable menstrual cup that would replace the tampons I normally purchased. I decided to go with the Lunette cup after some great suggestions from friends. I already tried out a brand of disposable menstrual cups and decided they weren't for me. I love the design and look of the Lunette cup so I decided to try it out.

A few things I loved about the Lunette cup are:
  • Ease of Use
  • Hygienic and Safe
  • Economical
  • Environmentally Friendly
  • Compact

Easy to Use and Environmentally Friendly
When I first saw the Lunette I do have to admit some hesitation. But once I started to use it I was amazed at how easy it was. It took maybe a day and a half for me to get the hang of it but once I got used to it things got quite easy.

I loved that I could wear it practically all day without worry about running to the restroom every few hours. When I needed to remove the waste I simply dumped the contents into the toilet and washed the cup in the sink in the comfort of my own home.

I wasn't throwing multiple tampons a day away in the trash (because I'd NEVER flush a tampon down the toilet) and I didn't have to deal with washing my reusable mama cloth as frequently. I still used my mama cloth as a liner and that made me feel even more secure while first trying out the Lunette cup.

Economical and Compact
The best part about switching over to the Lunette cup is that I no longer have to go out and purchase feminine products! It's just like when I decided to cloth diaper.

Just think about it. A woman menstruates from her early teens into her late 40s to early 50s and sometimes beyond. One period a month for that long and you do the math. That's a lot of money being thrown out... literally.

The Lunette cup is a one-time cost of $39.99 and I'm set until menopause hits!

Plus it's super easy to store and comes with a cute bag. I can easily keep it in my diaper bag until that time of the month and  I hardly know it's there. That way wherever I am, I'm prepared.

Be Prepared Period is a great resource for any and all questions and resources you might need for that time of the month. Not only do they sell a wide selection of eco-friendly products, they also have some great period starter kits for young women to try out as well.
