Gorgeous Clothing for Both Mother and Daughter from @MatildaJane435 #FashionistaEvents

Denise DeMarchis is founder and CEO of Matilda Jane Clothing (MJC). MJC started as a kitchen table startup that grew quickly into a national children's clothing business. Denise has held a passion for art and design from a very young age and has spent a decade showcasing her clothing line at regional art fairs before launching MJC.

In building MJC, Denise wanted to be able to help connect people though her designs – colorful, timeless, and playful ensembles that are age-appropriate and help reflect the personality of the child. And that connection shows in the designs MJC carries.

MJC loves to give back and is extremely generous with their random acts of kindness. As an extension of MJC’s desire to give back (such as to various children’s charities and orphanages, or the company’s pledge with Habitat for Humanity to build a home for a deserving family), the company also actively involves its customers in ongoing charitable giving efforts.

Most recently, MJC asked customers where to donate in its “Spread the Love” initiative. The annual campaign involved surprise giveaways to 100+ deserving families, as well as smaller giveaways to 300 individuals, a $50,000 expression of MJC’s heartfelt thanks to its loyal customer base.

Despite MJC’s strong online presence – nearly 60,000 Facebook fans, a thriving blog, and a website that attracts more than 70,000 unique visitors monthly, the company has bucked the trend and chosen not to have an e-commerce store. MJC sales are made directly though a Trunk Keeper, a representative who gets to know her customers personally.

The exclusive sale of clothing by Trunk Keepers is a wonderful direct selling model through which Denise is able to pay forward business opportunities for entrepreneurial women driven by creativity and relationship building.

Comfort and Style for Toddlers with Wee Urban #FashionistaEvents

While attending BlogHer'12, I received a gorgeous modern organic onesie for my daughter from a company I wasn't too familiar with. As soon as I got home I immediately looked up Wee Urban and my jaw dropped. Omg. How cute are these clothes?

Now I have an issue with shopping on sites. There are just too many patterns, styles, and colors to choose from. Wee Urban is totally different and I love it. Not only do they have simple and chic designs, they also have a limited number of pieces each season. So if you want something, you need to get it!

Our long sleeved onesie was a little to warm for our higher temperatures lately so as soon as we started to feel the crisp Fall air outside, we tried it on. And the 18-24 month size fit my daughter perfectly.

This giraffe patterned brown onesie is made with 100% organic cotton interlock and is uber soft. Their rich colors and one of a kind designs appeal to a simpler style. I love that i can pair this onesie with just about anything in my daughter's closet and she still looks super cute.

Because of the stretch of the cotton, I am pretty sure that my daughter will be fitting into this onesie for quite some time. That means this will more than likely be our go-to shirt this winter. I can already see the layering outfits we can create!

Not only is Wee Urban's giraffe collection cute, they also have an adorable owl print and monkeys right now! Check out their shop for gorgeous clothes and blankets. And they'll be adding some great gift sets soon.

Ranging from newborn sizes to toddlers, there's sure to be a perfect piece for your cutie! I know I'm eyeing the giraffe dress for my daughter and cannot wait to see what's next for Wee Urban.

Check out Wee Urban on Facebook or follow them on twitter at @WeeUrban to keep up with the latest styles and selections.

The Simmworks Family Blog will be participating in the Fall Fashionista Giveaway Event, the web's exclusive "All Fashion Only Fashion event this October.

Wee Urban has offered to giveaway the winner's choice of a Wee Urban Dress or Romper into the Simmworks Family Blog prize package (up to $38 value). So remember to head back on October 11th to enter to win!

Even Newborns Need Style {The Perfect Coming Home Outfits}

Awaiting the arrival of your little one is one of the biggest life moments there are.

And picking out a coming home outfit for your unborn child can be quite an important decision. Paige Lauren Baby not only has amazingly adorable outfits, they're also ultra soft, making them perfect for your newborn.

Paige Lauren Baby was created when Paige became frustrated in her search for comfortable, simple outfits for her friends' babies. The clothing lines at PLB are basic, gorgeous, and made from the finest material available. If you want only the best for your baby then you must check out the gorgeous styles available from Paige Lauren Baby.

Two dear friends of mine just had babies. My best friend lives in Switzerland and just had her first child, a gorgeous squishy baby boy, not even two days ago. And my good friend from my local playgroup just had her second daughter two weeks ago.

Both moms are very clean and simple when it comes to style. No over-adorning and over-design when it comes to what they wear and what they buy. So sending them a Paige Lauren Baby outfit for their newborns seemed like the perfect fit. And if you can tell from the photos below, this clothing is absolutely amazing.

Baby Amma is pictured in a gorgeous two piece sunset red top and leggings. This gorgeous red outfit had cute polka dots lining the inside and looked inspired by a watermelon design. The fit was perfect, not too snug and the perfect length to allow for growth over the next few weeks.

Sadly I don't yet have pictures of my best friend's little boy. His outfit is still in route but he should be making an appearance in it soon! (surprise, Miranda!).

If you're looking for a clean, simple designed outfit to bring your child in, check out the new collection at Paige Lauren Baby. There's sure to be something to catch your eye. And to stay in touch with the latest in PLB news, like them on Facebook and follow them on twitter at @PaigeLaurenBaby.

Preparing for Fall and Hopeful of Rainy Days {Kidorable Rain Coat Review}

Here in San Diego we don't get many rainy days.

My kids longingly look at the tv shows where the other kids wear their cool rain gear; boots, coats, and umbrellas. So when it starts to drizzle (you know, snow, to a So Cal preschooler) you gotta get your rain coat out!

We're still in the midst of a very hot summer but as son as my son saw a little drizzle outside he needed to put on his new Kidorable frog raincoat and play in the mud out back. Good thing he had his toy snake and coonhound explore with him.

When the drizzle turned to sprinkles he put the roomy hood on and got down to business. Digging, hunting for worms, then picking some tomatoes from the garden. He kept asking for his umbrella but I assured him that his hood would be more than enough protection from the snow... er... sprinkles.

This kid would so be in trouble if it ever did snow here!

In order to make my son as comfortable as possible in his rain gear I ordered the next size up (a 4T) to assure that there was some wiggle room in his coat. I am fairly certain this coat will fit him until next Fall! It's so well made and fits perfectly.

The pocket is the perfect place to store worms, rocks, and dirty toys found while splashing in puddles and exploring muddy yards. The hood has some ruching at the front to assure that it wont slide off when we really need it to stay on.

The length of the coat and the sleeves was perfect and when it rains more than a drizzle I know we'll put it to great use!

Kidorable, a company that turns functional children's accessories into fun objects to play and explore with, carries the best items when it comes to rain gear.

The variety of styles and product lines they carry are both unique and irresistable. My son took about 15 minutes to choose what rain coat he wanted for the next school year because he was so torn between the dinosaur style, the dragon knight style, and the frog style. Eventually the frog rain coat won out.

But now my daughter is eying the ladybug collection as she longingly looks at Kidorable's hats and scarves. Kidorable also carries backpacks, bookends, towels and umbrellas! Just about anything you might need to turn a cold day into a day of fun and laughter.

Kidorable's line of children's items are the perfect thing to suggest for birthday gifts, holiday presents, and back-to-school gear! To purchase any Kidorable product simply head over to the Kidorable website and purchase directly from them.

You can keep up with the latest styles and additions to the Kidorable lines by liking on Facebook and following on twitter. They always love to see your kids showing off their gear so feel free to snap a few photos to share with them!

Don't Keep Pulling Up Your Pants - Grab Some Dapper Snappers

I've had quite a problem trying to make sure that all of my son's clothing has either an adjustable or elastic waist. He is just so skinny that regularly sized pants or jeans do not fit properly and will fall off within a few minutes of putting them on.

Most of my son's clothes are hand-me-downs that we've received from his cousin. And a majority of these clothes were hand-me-downs to my nephew as well so needless to say, the elastic is pretty shot in a lot of the pants my son wears.

Instead of allowing him to trip over falling pants or moon anyone like a plumber, I found this awesome little invention, Dapper Snappers toddler belts.

No Mooning

Dapper Snappers are a simple elastic snap that easily attach to the belt loops of your child's pants. And with two adjustable settings you can easily adjust the Dapper Snapper toddler belt to fit any size waist. There are many different color options and styles available to fit any wardrobe. They even come in multi-packs!

A few more reasons why I love Dapper Snappers:
  • Affordable
  • Versatile in a wide range of colors for girls belts and boys belts
  • Recommended for ages 9 mo-6 yrs and One Size Fits All
  • Perfect for kids who are in between sizes or wearing hand-me-downs!
  • Convenient - no need to remove for diaper changes & doesn't impede potty training
  • Made in the USA
  • Mom-invented

Back to School with the Tea Collection

My son is a few short weeks away from starting his first day of preschool. And I couldn't be more excited! Not only is he ready to go, he asks every day if it's time for him to start preschool yet!

Needless to say, he and I are both ready.

To prepare for this exciting time we decided to make his first day of school extra special and pick out an outfit for him to wear. Now this might sound silly since its "only preschool" but think of all of the cute pictures I can get of him wearing his little backpack and walking to Mrs. Judy's house!

Or pictures of him refusing to smile and look at the camera because "Mommy takes too many pictures!"

Dragon Dot in 3T

Ahhh... jeans and a t-shirt, just his style! The Tea Collection's new Fall line is brimming with new and fahionable clothing perfect for any preschooler heading to school for the first time. It's great for little sisters who want to tag along as well!

The fashionable Nordic style Copenhagen Tee my son is showing off in the photo below fits his style to a T. He's obsessed with all things on-the-go and as soon as he saw the train on his shirt he demanded that I put it on him with some jeans.

This is the perfect time to do your back-to-school shopping! Instead of fighting the crowds (and melting in the heat) why not check out what Tea has to offer. You'll have to check out all of the new arrivals! There are just too many styles on our wishlist to write them out here.

Lunefuld Playdress in L | Copenhagen Tee in 3T
Tea's clothing is not only fashionable but functionable as well. The fit and flow of each piece was perfect for each of my children. Even my skinny waisted son was able to comfortably fit into his pants without worrying about picking them up every five minutes.

The shirts my son has on fit perfectly in length and were easy to pull on and off his big head. I loved how soft each of the cotton pieces felt.

And the dresses my daughter is showing off were stretchy in all the right places making it easy to put on. The rouching on the Lunefuld Playdress and the cute eyelet added the perfect touches of detail to make this the perfect Fall look.

I know that come next Spring she'll still be able to wear these dresses with some leggings underneath.

Do you do your back-to-school shopping online or at the stores?

Interested in doing a little back-to-school shopping?

Head on over to the Tea Collection and peruse their site. There's a few pieces that have already caught my eye for my next round of shopping.

And make sure to check out their Facebook page to keep up with the latest designs and styles to come! They also like to hang out on Twitter and love pinning new items on Pinterest.
