18 Months Old!

I can't believe it... I have an 18 month old. Seriously... sometimes I'm in doubt. But then he goes on to do something totally toddler and I'm forced back into reality.

My baby boy has grown so much! He has over 50 words, he runs and can almost jump (he marches), he has two-word sentences, he gives kisses, he knows at least 5 body parts (tongue, eye, hair, feet, and arm) and is picking up animal sounds faster and faster (dog, cat, duck, bird, cow, pig, sheep, monkey). I swear he is just absorbing the information around him like a sponge.

And now he's starting to learn from watching tv! For the first 17 months of his life he really wasn't that into television. And I was quite pleased. And than he realized that there was Elmo. And it's been downhill from there. He asks for Elmo when he wakes up, after he eats lunch, in the middle of the night (seriously... he goes from MOM! to ELMO!)... But luckily he is learning from Elmo. He learned all about bugs. He even surprised me by pointing out a lady bug in a book when his Aunt Julia was over this weekend. I didn't even know he knew the difference between the bugs. I think his favorite are ants but that might just be because we're infested...

He's still just as sweet as he's always been. But he does have his meltdowns. It's funny though because usually he'll be over them in a matter of seconds to a minute. Blessing for Mommy! He LOVES to greet people. Today at Sears he said "hi" to every single cashier. And than when we left he waved like he was in a parade and said goodbye to all of them. I overheard one of them say that that was definitely the way to make an exit!

He loves his friends. He even has started to ask for them by name at home. The two he asks for the most are Ellie and Cohen. I think the main reason is because we see them at least once a week at a play date. I love that he's so outgoing and happy around other kids and adults. It really makes life so much easier.

And he's started to become very interested in babies. I'm sure it has nothing to do with the little one in my belly and everything to do with the fact that he sees babies everywhere we go since we go to kid/baby friendly places. His friend Cohen has a little brother and Ethan loves to come up and see him and say hi to him. He also loves carrying around a baby doll when he can find out (or an Elmo or Ernie doll as a substitute) and just this weekend we were testing double strollers and he found a doll stroller to put the doll in and push around. Christmas gift??

I think that Joseph and I are truly blessed to have such a wonderful son.

Here are a few photos from the session we had at Sears Portrait Studios. We only ordered a sheet of the first two... we have lots of picture opportunities in the near future so I picked the best of the best to highlight his personality.
